Job Overview: The Upper School English Teacher, as a member of the English Department, will teach four sections of English and serve as an Upper School advisor.

Upper School English emphasizes reading, writing, speaking, and thinking with clarity and depth. The curriculum encompasses global classics and contemporary works, promoting critical and creative thinking through various activities. Writing is viewed as a process, focusing on brainstorming, drafting, and revising. By graduation, students will be proficient in multiple genres, including analytical, personal, and persuasive essays, as well as creative writing. They will acquire essential grammatical and rhetorical skills for diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with students

  • Qualified to teach grades 8-12 English language, literacy, and writing.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent

  • High School teaching experience

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The range is $70,000-$130,000.
